Aviation Heritage Park’s dreams of a museum in the park came much closer to reality in October when ground was broken, signaling the start of Take Off 2020, a $2.5 million capital campaign to build an 11,000 sq. ft. building to house AHP’s collections of aviation artifacts.
AHP President Joe Tinius anounced at the groundbreaking event that an anonymous donor has pledged $500,000 in matching donations to the museum building fund. Click here to make a tax-deductible donation that will be matched.
With contributions from the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and help from Warren County Fiscal Court, AHP has raised nearly $400,000 toward the project.
“Our dream is now much closer to reality,” Tinius said. According to Tinius, the $400 thousand on hand will allow for completion of the first phase, including site preparation, constructing a building pad, installing utility lines and building a driveway around the museum building. This is scheduled to be completed by December. “By spring we will start phase two, ” he said.
