Aviation Heritage Park Commemorates the 20th Anniversary of 9/11
This Saturday, on the 20th anniversary of the devastating terrorist attack on our nation, Aviation Heritage Park (AHP) will commemorate the anniversary with a ceremony from 2:00 -2:30 PM at the park located at 1825 Three Springs Road. The public is invited to attend in remembrance of those who lost their lives, and to honor the survivors and surviving families, the courage and bravery of the first responders, and in celebration of the strength through unity shown by the citizens of the United States on that fateful day.
Keynote speaker will be Major General D. Allen Youngman, who was in command of the Kentucky National Guard at the time of the attack. Representatives of area first responders are most welcome.
Basil Griffin Park is home to one of Bowling Green’s first tributes to 9/11, a granite marker inscribed, “Dedicated to the Individuals who Made the Great Sacrifice for Freedom on September 11, 2001 911.” This marker is located at the flagpole base in AHP, and was dedicated on the first anniversary of 9/11.
Aviation Heritage Park is grateful to be able to serve the community in this way.
