The Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit

This Memorial Day, we will unveil a special donation from NASA of a 1:15 scale model of the Space Shuttle Atlantis. This 8 ½ foot long model has been meticulously restored by expert modeler Chris Bowling to the point of hand installing the 18,000+ heat tiles on the ship’s underside. It will be displayed here as a tribute to all of those who served on the Space Shuttle, including those lost in the Challenger and Columbia tragedies.  It will also tell the story of Logan County native and WKU graduate, Col Terry Wilcutt, who served as the pilot on two Space Shuttle missions and Commander of two others.
