Take a flight back in time on the historic DC-3 “Flagship Detroit.” Flights will be available at the Bowling Green/Warren County Airport to members of the Flagship Detroit Foundation (flights free to members). You can easily join the Foundation ($100) on the Flagship Detroit website. If you are interested in a ride please read this information from the Flagship Detroit website:
A facet of our mission is to allow the public to experience the way it was to fly in the 1930’s when passenger service was in its infancy and at a time when only the wealthy had the means for air travel. Current members of the Foundation are invited to ride on the Flagship Detroit. New memberships entitle the individual to take a local area nostalgic flight on the DC-3 when the local event host allows this activity. In addition, members may ride on positioning flights on a space available basis (all additional travel expenses incurred are the responsiblity of the member). While the positioning flight schedules are not published on the Upcoming Events page, these flights normally precede and follow the dates of the scheduled events by a day or two. If you are interested in taking a flight to or from a specific event, contact us by email and we will give you the specific information on the flight. See JOIN US for membership details.
A Note About Our Membership Rides
We normally fly enough trips each day to accommodate everyone who desires to fly. Each daily flight will depart when there are a required minimum number of riders. For that reason, exact departure times are not published unless the minimum guarantee has already been met. It is not necessary to make a reservation, but, if you wish to do so, you will be accommodated in the order received. (Note: Membership entitles the member for one local area membership ride. Multiple local area rides are at the sole discretion of the Foundation.) Each flight will be approximately twenty minutes takoff to landing time. During flight time, you will be able move about the cabin and visit the cockpit to observe the pilots and the view from up front. Feel free to photograph your experience. Stairs are used for entering and exiting the airplane and all passengers are required to be physically able to enplane and deplane without assistance.
