Murphy Construction Group has completed their work on Aviation Heritage Park Museum. 12,470 sq ft- The interior includes two classrooms, an exhibit space, 1400 sq ft mezzanine with elevator access, a maintenance shop area and motorized hangar doors. We can’t wait to show it to you in September when we open!
There is a HUGE flurry of activity happening in and around the museum building. The Frick Pittsburgh has generously donated enough display cases to fulfill our needs. Those cases will arrive by the end of the month.
Flutter & Wow, a museum design company, has been engaged to design the layout of the museum and produce the opening exhibits.
The mezzanine of the museum will soon be the home of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association (River Rats) Museum. They will have their portion of the museum filled with displays and artifacts memorializing the heroic fighter pilots.
But the real news is that we are beginning to gather artifacts related to the distinguished aviators. Their families are gracious with their memories and generous with their keepsakes, ranging from full uniforms, flight suits, helmets and jackets, to photographs and aircraft manuals. These artifacts will be documented and curated to create an interesting and moving display on the museum’s main floor.
