Major Jesse Lee Birchett Jr. overcame limited formal education to become a military aviator, flying P-47 Thunderbolts in the Pacific during World War II before continuing a lifelong career in aviation.

Maj Todd Moore is known as the Ace of the 7th Air Force. During WW2 his squadron flew P-51 Mustangs out of Iwo Jima. While attacking enemy-held islands and escorting bombers to Tokyo, he became a “Double Ace.”
