We mourn the loss of Basil Jones, a man who dedicated his life to service.
After college Jones served our state and nation in the Kentucky National Guard. In 1964, he began a career that spanned 32 years with Bowling Green Independent School District. During that time, he served not only as a science teacher, but also as assistant principal and principal of Bowling Green High School, principal of the newly formed Bowling Green Junior High School and Assistant Superintendent of Bowling Green Independent School District where he was Director of Buildings and Grounds, Pupil Personnel, and Transportation. While he was organizing BGJHS, the Bowling Green/Warren County Jaycees and the Kentucky Jaycees named him outstanding Young Educator of Kentucky in 1971. His imprint on the youth of the area will never be forgotten.
Basil was a long time and trusted board member of Aviation Heritage Park & Museum. His guidance and steady hand will long be missed.
